Charity Work

In the past, I have done voluntary work and fundraising for my local Hospice, St. Francis Hospice, who looked after my Grandfather. They host a number of sponsored walks each year, at which I usually staff check-in desks, provide general support and clearing up post-event.

Amateur Dramatics

I am involved with a local group and when not performing, can usually be found backstage. This involves setting and striking sets, and moving props and set materials around. I also offer my services selling programmes and raffle tickets front-of-house.

Model Railways

Being a keen railway modeller, I have exhibited several layouts at exhibitions both locally and long distances away. Recently, a close friend and I acquired some props used in the original production of the television show “Thomas & Friends”, which we have also started to exhibit across the country.

Heritage Railways

I am a regular volunteer for the Epping Ongar Railway, a heritage line that runs vintage steam and diesel services on 6.5 miles of former London Underground track. During my time here, I have been a station porter, bus conductor, shop staff and locomotive cleaner.

For 3 years, I have been involved with the running of their social media pages - i.e. Facebook and Twitter. Through these, I deal with customer enquiries, and publish relevant informative posts to promote the Railway. I also began assisting with the maintaining of their website content, updating text throughout and publishing news articles and updates.

This year, I was co-opted onto the Volunteer Society's committee as Publicity Officer, following several years as Editor of its quarterly Journal.

Photography
A budding amateur photographer, I primarily work around the Epping Ongar Railway taking stills for publicity purposes. I have had a small selection of my work published in magazines and newspapers, as well as on their own website, and am in talks with their retail manager regarding selling my own merchandise via their retail outlets. Away from railways, I have also captured wildlife photography, with the natural world being another of my interests.
